View of the House that Nobody Sees

View of the House that Nobody Sees

I made a 20 foot pole out of PVC pipe, strapped a mini tripod to one end, attached a small digital camera, set the self-timer, raised the pole and took the picture. Getting the proper exposure and focus was tricky because the camera sets those when the shutter release is pressed, not when the picture is taken. So, I had to point to a similar subject at ground level, press the shutter and quickly raise the pole. Eight seconds is barely enough time to stop the pole from swaying and position the camera.

I looked and looked at this picture, trying to make my mind make sense of this. I was trying to make it fit the barn out back!

Suddenly, I realized that I was looking at the FRONT of the house and you are right, this is a view that nobody sees. I didn't realize that the height and angle could make such a big difference.

Well, so much for eye witnesses!

Great shot.
